Artist Statement

Stacey True was born and raised in Mason City, IA, where she was influenced at a very young age by the artistic abilities of one grandfather, and the craftsmanship of another. To this day projects involving building or creating give her the fuel she needs to feel whole.

Stacey studied art and art education at the University of Iowa, where she completed her teaching requirements and received a BFA in painting. In the years following, she has taught art in Illinois, Iowa, and Arizona. While teaching in Arizona, she completed her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has also worked professionally in the art field at the Phoenix Art Group, where she was in charge of the etching and silkscreening departments.

Upon resignation from PAG, she spent about a year as a picture framer, in which she was able to collaborate with and guide customers in matting and framing decisions, ensuring satisfaction with the end result. The enjoyment that came from the successful results of the client interaction is the driving force behind Stacey's newest endeavor....Custom Creations & Consultations

In her spare time, Stacey completes remodeling projects in her home she shares with her husband, and she paints in her studio, always working towards her dream of running her own art studio and showroom, where she can teach art privately and sell her work and the work of others.

Stacey feels art should be an expression, while she also understands that buyers typically want something to match there decor. She tries to satisfy both of these needs in her art by using color schemes that follow furniture and interior decorating trends.

Stacey uses the human figure to express emotion in many of her pieces, often in an abstract fashion. Circles and Orbs are also used often in her work, as circles represent wholeness, inclusion, devinity, and the infinite nature of energy.
